Swimming with Sea Lions

This blog post is directed to mermaids, divers, snorkelers, vacationers, and sailors. If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience, check out Los Islotes near La Paz, Mexico. A 27-mile sail (or an hour boat ride in a tour boat) will get you to the rocky outcropping where a colony of wild sea lions reside. Humans have been interacting with this colony for years with no studied detriment to the colony, and the juveniles love to get in the water and play with visitors!

For the sailors, you might get lucky enough to snag a mooring ball, but you’ll be jostling for a spot unless you arrive before or after the tour boats. Shoot for early morning or late afternoon, and be sure to watch your boat as the lee shore is a bit too close for comfort.
